Community Impact
Serving the people of our community in a meaningful way is a top priority for our Post. We endeavor to make our world a better place. Below is a list of some of the ways we have made an impact in the past year.
Community Service
Many volunteers from our Post rolled up their sleeves and spent the day cleaning up litter on Highway 58. We love making our community a better place to live!
Croatan HD FFA
Our Post recognized Croatan HD FFA program and individual student volunteers for their support at the 1st Crystal Coast Car Show and Pig cook off at Mac Daddy’s. They received $500 and a plaque from Post 9960! Job well done Croatan FFA!
District 4 Training
We partnered with the Commander of District 4 (and member of VFW Post 9960) to provide essential leadership training.
2023 Beach Bash Marine Appreciation
Great event supporting Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29 for their family Beach Bash! We provided the BBQ for this important event to demonstrate our appreciation and partnership with the military in our greater community.
Regional Essay Winner
A local student participated in The Voice of Democracy audio-essay program which provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Our proud student presented his scholarship-winning essay to Post 9960 members.
14th Annual Crusin to the Cape Car Show
We partnered with Mac Daddy's to host this annual car show where there were more than 150 entries. Hundreds of people from our community enjoyed attending this event.
Retirement Ceremony
We were honored to show our support for our Comrade CWO3 Brian Meyer by attending his retirement ceremony at Camp Lejeune.
Gunny Clause
Gunny Clause visits every year bringing presents for children in our community. This holiday event also supports our local young Marines.
Veteran Suicide Prevention & Awareness Ride
We partnered with The Marine Riders to benefit the Independence Fund and raise awareness for this important cause.
Concealed Carry Course
We partnered with High Caliber Firearms Training to host a class in Morgan Hall that enabled individuals from our local community to obtain their Concealed Carry Permit.
Freedom Radio
We partnered with the Marine Riders and did a radio spot on Freedom 97.7 to discuss VFW happenings and the upcoming fundraiser for the Independence Fund which provides support for veteran suicide awareness.
VFW Auxiliary
For more than 100 years, we have been serving and supporting the veterans, active duty soldiers, and their families of the United States.
